At the heart of Dr. R. S. Gunjal Welfare Foundation Nursing College lies the unwavering vision and humanitarian spirit of our esteemed founder, Dr. R. S. Gunjal. A distinguished medical professional and a compassionate leader, Dr. Gunjal has dedicated his life to uplifting rural communities through healthcare, education, and social development.
Born and brought up in rural Maharashtra, Dr. R. S. Gunjal witnessed first-hand the struggles faced by underprivileged communities — lack of access to medical care, low literacy rates, and limited livelihood opportunities. These early life experiences instilled in him a deep desire to bring meaningful change where it was needed the most.

Foundation of the Dream
In 1989, he laid the foundation of the Dr. R. S. Gunjal Welfare Foundation, with the goal of transforming lives through integrated development in education, healthcare, agriculture, and skill-building. Recognizing the dire shortage of qualified and compassionate nursing professionals, he established the Nursing College at Hahnemann Hill, Gunjalwadi Pathar, Tal-Sangamner, a serene and inspiring location conducive to learning and growth. In 1989, driven by this mission, he founded the Dr. R. S. Gunjal Welfare Foundation — a trust built on compassion, service, and long-term social development. What started as a small healthcare initiative soon blossomed into a multi-sectoral welfare movement, addressing critical needs in:
- Education – Bridging the rural-urban divide through accessible, quality education.
- Healthcare – Bringing preventive and curative medical services to the doorstep of villagers.
- Skill Development – Equipping youth and women with livelihood-based training.
- Agriculture & Environment – Promoting sustainable practices for rural prosperity.
- Social Welfare – Championing causes like women’s empowerment, sanitation, and child health.
